FISA 2012 Zurich City Sprints
World champion and Olympic Gold medalist in London 2012, Mirka Knapkova (CZE), is one of the prominent champions eager to prove their abilities in the new challenge in Zürich 2012. The 2012 Zurich City Sprints Regatta is built on the back of the annual rowing race which takes place between Zurich University and the Polytechnic University of Zurich. International crews have been invited by FISA to take part in this year's regatta. Zurich is Switzerland's largest city and is one of the world's leading financial centers. According to various surveys, Zurich has been ranked as the city with the best quality of life in the world and the wealthiest in Europe. Located at the north end of Lake Zurich, which is 40km long and up to 3km wide, the city is crossed by the Limmat River, which flows out of the lake. The race distance is approximately 450m and will take place on the Limmat River between the “Quaibrücke” bridge and "Rathausbrücke" bridge. The race program will start with round-robins to determine the winners for Final B and Final A.
