WOF 2012#02 English: Swatch Freeride World Tour 2012 - Season Preview Show
Swatch Freeride World Tour 2012
The best skiers on the best mountains in the ultimate freeride competition
In 2012, the Swatch Freeride World Tour enters its fifth season solidifying its position at the very top of competitive Freeriding. The superb imagery will again create the "wow" effect because alongside the iconic resorts of Chamonix Mont-Blanc and Verbier will be Austria's best kept big mountain secret, Fieberbrunn, and three new host resorts making the tour six events in total. The tour will start in Revelstoke (Canada), renowned for its great snow and back-country steeps, move on to Chamonix and then literally pass through the Mont-Blanc for a stop in Courmayeur (Italy).
Following a 3½ week break, the tour will have a Scandinavia stop for the first time descending upon Røldal in Norway, move on to Fieberbrunn, then the final will as usual take place on the intimidating Bec des Rosses in Verbier.
Freeriding has evolved rapidly over the last four seasons with the pro riders spinning, jumping and stomping with an ever increasing intensity. Our goal in 2012 is to take TV audiences right up this "intensity curve" so that they can better experience the speed, bone-jarring falls and explosive nature of the sport. We'll also be giving viewers a greater insight to these unique athletes - the preparation they undergo, the mental and physical pressure, the fun and excitement of really nailing a great run.
