Snowboarding: style & tradition at Europe's longest running contest!

NESCAFÉ CHAMPS LEYSIN 2013

March 06-10 2013, Leysin (Switzerland)

A fancy slopestyle course that integrates a half-pipe, and a clear awareness for style and tradition: these factors shape the Champs Leysin, Europe's longest running snowboarding contest. Since 1992, the competition has been imperative for the international snowboarding scene. Since 2003, it's a 5-star event of today's most important competition series in snowboarding, the World Snowboard Tour. From March 6 to 10, 2013, the Champs will be held for the 22nd time. As the slopestyle discipline will premiere at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, the slopestyle riders are at the centre of attention more than ever. At the Champs, slopestyle has already a long history. Thus, the 2013 edition again attracts some of the world's leading riders who are eager to win the coveted Champs title and gain more contest experience with regard to the Olympics. Participants from 14 nations are at the start. The field includes the reigning Champs champion and current 4th in the overall ranking of the World Snowboard Tour, Roope Tonteri (FIN), as well as the 5th-ranked, Jan Scherrer (SUI), or top rider Janne Korpi (FIN) and the 2nd of the 2012 Champs Leysin, Matthias Weißenbacher (AUT).
