20th - 25th August 2024, Sylt (GER)

The upcoming Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour stop in Sylt, Germany, promises a thrilling double-header event featuring both the second stop of the Kite-Surf discipline and the Hydrofoil Big Air European Championships. Sylt will see the world's best kiteboarders compete on its pristine beaches and unspoiled sand dunes. The GKA Kite-Surf World Cup returns after a six-month break since the first stop in Cape Verde, which was won by Airton Cozzolino (ITA) and Moona Whyte (USA). With Whyte off the tour, last year's Sylt winner Capucine Delannoy of France is ready to defend her title, but faces a tough challenge from Switzerland's Camille Losserand. On the men's side, Airton Cozzolino will be looking to avenge his 2023 loss to Spain's Kiko Roig, while German Keanu Merten and the returning James Carew (AUS), will be looking to shake up the competition. Meanwhile, the GKA Hydrofoil Big Air World Cup, which includes the European Championships, will be held in Sylt for the first time. Reigning five-time World Champion Charles Brodel of France is the clear favorite, but challengers like France's Maxime-Luan Desjardins, Netherlands' Jamie Overbeek and Germany's young talent Finn Flügel could provide stiff competition, especially with the European title on the line. The six-day event in late summer promises to be a spectacular showcase of skill and strategy, drawing crowds to Sylt's beach promenade.
