The two in tandem running events of the Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour and the GWA Wingfoil World Tour kick off in Salinas de Tenefé, Gran Canaria, from July 9th to 13th. Both events will host their Big Air World Championships, where the Big Air World titles will be decided. In both events, 24 men and 11 women will compete on the Canary Islands, known for their strong winds. Top favorites for the GKA are the Dutch duo of Jamie Overbeek and Pippa van Iersel, who are leading the standings after winning the first round of the GKA Lords of Tram event in Barcarès, France in April. Also in the run for the title are Jeremy Burlando (ESP), Edgar Ulrich (FRA), Lorenzo Casati (ESP), Nathalie Lambrecht (SWE) and Zara Hoogenraad (NED). The GWA favorites for the title are reigning World Champions Julien Rattotti (FRA) and Mar de Arce (ESP), who will be defending their crowns. However, they will face tough competition from Benjamin May (GER), Chris MacDonald (USA), Nia Suardiaz (ESP), Agata Blach (POL) and Orane Ceris (FRA).
