GKA Freestyle Kite World Cup – Dunkerque (FRA)

28th August - 1st September, 2024, Dunkerque (FRA)

The season-opening Freestyle Kite World Cup is set to kick off in Dunkerque, France, from August 28 to September 1, 2024, marking the second consecutive year the event will be held on Dunkerque’s historic beachfront. The reigning Qatar Airways GKA Freestyle Kite World Champions, Brazilians Bruna Kajiya and Carlos Mario, will begin their title defenses in this exciting competition. Last year, Kajiya won the event in challenging conditions but she will face strong competition from Denmark's Therese Taabbel, seeded second, and Spain's Rita Arnaus. The men's field features a 24-strong line-up, including top athletes Italy's Gianmaria Coccoluto, France's Arthur Guillebert and Switzerland's Maxime Chabloz, as well as young German talent Finn Flügel, Japan's Hironobu Nakano and the unique British rider Tom Bridge. The event promises five days of thrilling action that will captivate the fans on Dunkerque’s panoramic beaches and set the tone for the following competitions in Brazil and Qatar later in the year.
