Grueling length, harsh race conditions, and impressive athletic performances: triathlon has experienced a unique boom in recent years. Many consider it as the "king of all sports disciplines" as it requires so many different skills from the athletes. The best of them compete in the world's leading triathlon series, the famed Ironman Triathlon Series that culminates in the Ironman World Championship. In 2013, quattro media distributes eight of the most exciting events of the European leg of the series.

Ironman Wales is located in beautiful Pembrokeshire, which is known for the breathtaking landscape of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, featuring miles of magnificient beaches and a spectacular coastline. The swimming course for Ironman Wales is located on the North Beach in Tenby, a lovely large, golden stretch sandy beach, dotted with rock pools and surrounding the very prominent Goscar Rock. The biking track is a two-loop course totalling 180 kilometres of spectacular coastal views through idyllic towns letting riders deal with over 2,000 metres of altitude difference throughout the course! Finally, the marathon course takes place in and around the picturesque town of Tenby.
