European Open 2007

January 20th to 27th 2006, Laax (Switzerland)

For the third time in a row, the international snowboard elite meets at Europe's biggest snowboard event at Swiss freestyle stronghold Laax. From January 20th to 27th 2007, the European Open 2007 presents a week full of action and entertainment, stars and highlights.

The European Open 2007 - which this year has “Mexico” as the motto - kicks off with the slopestyle competition at the world famous Crap Sogn Gion snowpark. Two days of junior events follow. The final event is the half-pipe competition. Alltogether, the organizers expect nearly 500 participants. There is equal prize-money for women and men which totals up to US$ 125,000. For the first time, freestyle icon Shaun White takes part in the European Open. At present, the Californian is the most outstanding rider in the world: in 2006, he won the gold medal at the half-pipe contest at the Olympics, and left the US Open and the X-Games as the winner as well. Spectators and riders are excited to see the 20-year-old riding the slopestyle course on Crap Sogn Gion.
