The 2012 rowing year is all about the Summer Olympics at London. All athletes who are not qualified yet but want to take part in this season highlight have to overcome one last obstacle: the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta at Lucerne (SUI) from May 20 to 23, 2012, offers the last opportunity to join in the Olympic Summer Games. Right before the World Cup which will be staged on Lake Rotsee in the following days, female and male rowers from all over the world will fight for the last Olympic tickets.

In the most boat classes, only the best two boats will get a last starting place for the Olympics. The results of the World Cup are not relevant for the Olympic qualification. Only the results of the World Rowing Championship 2011 at Bled (SLO) and the Continental Qualification Regattas in Asia, Africa and Latin America are key. But anyone who didn’t make it yet, will now get a last chance at Lucerne.
