Gregor Schlierenzauer: the winner

During the last season, there was no way to avoid Austria`s young super star Gregor Schlierenzauer: earning 2,083 points from 27 competitions, the Tyrolean set a new record and won the overall world cup. In addition, he also took the overall world cup in ski flying. The 19-year-old has been Austrian champion seven times so far and has won 24 world cup events since his first victory in the December of 2006. After a heavy knee injury in the spring of 2009, he returned to the scene quickly impressing his opponents with two victories at the Summer Grand Prix events at Zakopane and Klingenthal. Thanks to his easygoing and uplifting nature, the Tyrolean from Fulpmes has conquered the hearts of spectators worldwide. This season, Schlierenzauer wants to make his childhood dream come true and take the gold medal at the Olympic Winter Games at Vancouver.
