120 athletes compete in the Olympic foiling windsurfing class

iQFOiL Open European Championship 2024

Cagliari (ITA), October 5th-11th, 2024

Cagliari, Sardinia (ITA), is set to welcome 120 of the world’s best windsurfers for the 2024 iQFOiL Open European Senior Championship, taking place from Saturday, October 5th to Friday, October 11th, 2024 in Poetto, the renowned windusrfing spot of the Island, organized by FIV, the Italian Sailing Federation, FIV Sardinia and Windsurfing Club Cagliari with the iQFOiL Class. This will be the first senior competition since the iQFOiL made its debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, held in July and August in Marseille. Among the competitors is bronze medalist Luuc Van Opzeeland, the only sailor from both Olympic podiums who will be competing in Cagliari. For everybody this event will represent the first step of their Olympic campaign, many younger sailors will also take part, eager to prove their worth as they begin the four-year cycle, all here to qualify their nations — and ultimately themselves — for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
