Copa Kitley GKA Freestyle-Kite World Cup 2023 – Cauipe (BRA)

Cauipe (BRA), 8th -11th of November

It's the penultimate stop in the Freestyle-Kite discipline of the Qatar Airways GKA Kite World Tour 2023, taking place in Brazil's Cauipe Lagoon from November 8th to 11th. The lagoon offers butter-flat water and constant winds, surrounded by sand dunes and palm trees, and separated from the sea by a low sandbar, making it perfect for Freestyle-Kite. Both the men's and women's titles are up for grabs, with only small gaps between the athletes at the top of the standings. Former four-time Freestyle-Kite World Champion, Carlos Mario from Brazil, is currently leading the standings and will have the added bonus of competing on his home spot in front of local fans. Only a few points separate him from reigning GKA Freestyle-Kite World Champion Gianmaria Coccoluto (ITA). Frenchman Louka Pitot is third in the rankings, just ahead of Maxime Chabloz (SUI). On the women's side, Brazil's Bruna Kajiya is currently leading the rankings, closely followed by Spain's Claudia León and reigning World Champion Mikaili Sol (USA). Poland's Karolina Winkowska is back on the tour at the age of 33. The three-time Freestyle-Kite World Champion will undoubtedly push the younger athletes. A total of 26 men and 12 women from 19 countries around the world are competing.
