Fantastic slopes, fast powder runs, and awe-inspiring drops from huge cliffs: since 2008, the world’s leading freeride skiers and snowboarders have fought for the World Championship titles of the Freeride World Tour (FWT) every year. Thanks to its unforgettable images and top-notch athletic performances, the tour has become a key part of the international winter sports calendar. In 2016, the FWT hosts events at 5 chosen European and US ski resorts with first-class freeride terrain. 27 male and 14 female skiers as well as 14 male and 7 female snowboarders take part. There’s 4 tour stops in all 4 categories before the World Champions will be crowned at the big finals in Verbier (SUI). The contestants battle for the highest FWT prize-purse ever, US$ 468,000 in total.
