January to April 2017, Chamonix (FRA), Grandvalira (AND), Vallnord Arcalís (AND), Fieberbrunn (AUT), Haines/Alaska (USA), Verbier (SUI)

Steep powder slopes, spectacular off-piste runs, and awe-inspiring drops from huge cliffs: since 2008, the world’s leading freeride skiers and snowboarders have fought for the World Championship titles of the Freeride World Tour (FWT) every year. Delivering unforgettable images and top-notch athletic performances, the tour has become a key part of the international winter sports calendar. In 2017, the FWT guests at 5 chosen European and US ski resorts with first-class freeride terrain. For the first time, there will addionally be a Freeride World Qualifier in Asia. 22 male and 11 female skiers as well as 9 male and 8 female snowboarders will join in. After 4 tour stops in all categories, the World Champions will be crowned at the big finals at Verbier (SUI).


1. Freeride World Tour Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (FRA) – Jan 28-Feb 2, 2017
Chamonix in France’s Haute-Savoie département is arguably the world’s most renowned alpine resort and a Mecca for freeriding with loads of varied faces. In recent years, competitions were held at Aiguille Pourrie at the La Flégère area and Chamois at the Brévent skiing area.
2. Freeride Junior World Championships 2017 Grandvalira (AND) – Feb 5-8, 2017
The Freeride Junior World Championships are held for the fifth time ever, and for the third time at Andorra’s freeriding hot spot Grandvalira. The field will include the leading riders of the Freeride Junior Tour. Skiers and snowboarders between 14 and 18 years from both sides of the Atlantic will join in. 
3. Freeride World Tour Vallnord Arcalís (AND) – Feb 11-16, 2017
Vallnord Arcalís in Andorra is widely known as the jewel of the Pyrenees and will host an FWT event for the third time. Before that, the resort had held the popular “El Dorado Freeride” Qualifyer event since 1998.
4. Freeride World Tour Fieberbrunn Kitzbüheler Alpen (AUT) – Mar 6-11, 2017
Fieberbrunn Kitzbüheler Alpen is one of the finest freeriding locations in Austria. The infamous north face of Wildseeloder (2,118 m/6,948 ft) with its 70-degree steeps and varied terrain full of cliff drops and powder fields offers the perfect venue to show top-notch performances.
5. Freeride World Tour Haines/Alaska (USA) – Mar 17-24, 2017
Considered as the Hawaii of freeriding, Alaska offers super steep slopes and unique snow conditions. After two sensational FWT competitions in 2015 and 2016, the tour will return to Haines again. Expect thrilling runs and perfect powder!
6. Xtreme Verbier (SUI) – Apr 1-9, 2017
Legendary Xtreme Verbier is the nucleus of the FWT and takes place for the 22nd time. The exciting season’s final on the dauntingly steep and frighteningly jagged 500-metre rock face of the Bec des Rosses will determine the 2017 Freeride World Tour Champions.
