Cape Epic 2017 | RSA

Mountain biking: the strongest field ever!

March 19 to 29, 2017, South Africa

The Cape Epic 2017 will take riders through 691 km of South Africa’s Western Cape countryside and up a lot of hills: the accumulated vertical gain will be 15,400 m. 1,300 mountain bikers, amateurs and pros alike, start in 2-man teams. Magnificent mountain landscapes, wide-open plains and indigenous forests await them on the route from Meerendal Wine Estate over Hermanus, Greyton and Elgin to Val de Vie Estate. The Cape Epic is the most televised mountain bike stage race in the world and the only 8-day mountain bike stage race classed as hors catégorie by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). This official UCI status makes it a highlight on the professional racer’s calendar. The 14th Cape Epic is held from March 19 to 26, 2017
