Grueling length, harsh race conditions, and impressive athletic performances:  triathlon has experienced a unique boom in recent years. Many consider it as the "king of all sports disciplines" as it requires so many different skills from the athletes. The best of them compete in the world's leading triathlon series, the famed Ironman Triathlon Series that culminates in the Ironman World Championship. In 2013, quattro media distributes eight of the most exciting events of the European leg of the series.

More than 2,500 athletes from 51 nations will face the challenge of the Ironman European Championship in Frankfurt, Germany, with its 3.82 km swim in Lake Waldsee Langen, 180.25 km bike in the surroundings of Frankfurt and a 42.2 km run along the the banks of Main River with a finish on the famous Römerberg. At Frankfurt, current Hawaii champion Pete Jacobs (AUS) will compete against Ironman 70.3 world title holder Sebastian Kienle (GER)!
