FISA 2013: World Rowing Cup - Eton | UK

FISA World Rowing Cup 2013

The Rowing World Cup is an annual team competition, created in 1997, comprising three international regattas per year. A Rowing World Cup Champion is awarded in each boat class to the nation with the most points won in that boat class from the three regattas. Rowing World Cup regattas are held in the boat classes of the Olympic programme in effect at the time of the regattas. Each Rowing World Cup regatta also offers races in non-Olympic boat categories - these boat categories do not score points at Rowing World Cup regattas. In 2013, the Rowing World Cup series will take place in:  Sydney, Eton and Lucerne.

Eton (UK) - June 22nd - 23rd

Dorney Lake is a modern world-class rowing and flat-water canoeing centre set in a 450-acre parkland near Windsor. It was the venue for the Rowing and Kayak events in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Dorney Lake was conceived as an idea by Eton College rowing teachers in the 1960's. They thought that a still-water rowing course would offer greater safety than the River Thames, with its fast currents, varying widths and increasing traffic. Over 40 years later their dream came true. The Lake is 2,200 metres long and has eight lanes each 13.5 meters wide - perfect conditions for exciting races, just like at the 2012 Olympics.
