Snowboarding: seasons's highlight in the Far East

Nippon Open 2007

February 20th to 25th 2007, Alts Bandai Resort/Fukushima (Japan)

Freestyle snowboarding at its best in the land of the Rising Sun: from Februar 20th to 25th 2007, the Nippon Open at Alts Bandai Resort near Fukushima will offer a varied bunch of first-class freestyle contests. At several competitions at the half-pipe, the snow park and the rail park, some of the world's strongest riders will gather to show their skills fighting for an US$ 140,000 overall prize-purse.
The Nippon Open is part of the Global Open Series Championship: a chain of "Open" events in the USA, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Riders who compete in these competitions will earn points towards the men's and women's Global Open Series Championship titles each worth $100,000: the largest single payout in snowboard contest history. At the same time, the Nippon Open is a five-star event of the Ticket To Ride World Snowboard Tour (TTR) and therefore one of the most important legs of the TTR. Five stars: that means more prize money, a higher score for the TTR overall ranking and because of that more spectacular jumps and more action for the viewers.
