Burton European Open 2008 - Highlight

Snowboarding: superlative freestyle event

European Open 2008

January 11th to 18th 2008, Laax (Switzerland)
It's the unquestioned highlight of the European snowboard season: For the fourth time in a row, the international snowboard elite meet at Europe's biggest
snowboard event at Swiss freestyle stronghold Laax. From January 11th to 18th 2008, the EUROPEAN OPEN 2008 presents a week full of action and
entertainment, stars and highlights. Expect supreme artistic tricks at the superpipe and the slopestyle course. The aim of the organizers is to push the sport by innovative snowboarding and to put freestyle on a new level.

The EUROPEAN OPEN is one of only six 6-star events of the Ticket To Ride World Snowboard Tour (TTR). Therefore, it is the follow-up event to crucial competitions like the Air & Style in Munich or the Evolution in Davos and the predecessor to the Arctic Challenge in Norway in February. At the end of the season, the TTR will distribute a recordbreaking US$ 250,000 prize-purse. It's at the 6-star events where it will settle who will be leading the overall ranking in the end. And at the EUROPEAN OPEN itself, an astonishing prizemoney of US$ 125,000 is up for grabs. So, a lot to go for at the kickers, pipes and rails on the Crap Sogn Gion! For sure, 500 participants make the EUROPEAN OPEN Europe's biggest snowboard event again.
