Trailrunning: The Ultimate Team World Championships!

adidas INFINITE TRAILS 2018

June 22 to 24, 2018 – Gastein (AUT)

The world’s best trail runners like 3-time Ultratrail world champion Luis Alberto Hernando (ESP), 2-time Western States 100 champion Timothy Allen Olson (USA), the 3rd-placed at the 2017 World Skyrunning Series Dimitri Mitiaev (RUS), the 3rd-placed at the 2017 Transvulcania Johannes Klein (GER), 2017 TNF Endurance Challenge winner Abigail Levene (USA), the 3rd-placed at the 2018 Transgrancanaria Ekaterina Mityaeva (RUS) and the 2nd-placed at the 2017 Golden Gate Dirty Thirty Abby Mitchell come together at the inaugural adidas Infinite Trails World Championship in the Gastein Valley in Austria and talk about the fascination of the sport and their thoughts on the first ever team relay trail running World Championship.

Introducing this innovative concept, Robert Muecke of the adidas Global Sports Marketing team explains how the event’s relay format with three different loops reflects the different nature of the sport on different continents and why Austria’s Gastein valley is the ideal host location. Despite the main event being cancelled due to the weather conditions, trail running’s stars competed together with amateurs and other athletes like the German Nordic ski team, former Olympic cross-country medallist Tobias Angerer and 4-time Olympic biathlon champion Sven Fischer in the Vertical Open prologue.

Spectacular trail running footage, including aerial drone shots and interviews with the sport’s biggest stars give an entertaining insight into the state of the world-wide trail running scene.
