Outdoorsportsteam 2013: The Fascination of Climbing

Rote Wand/Vorarlberg (Austria)

The route at the South Wall of Rote Wand is called “Sangre de Torro“. It’s 200 metres tall and presents difficulty levels between 6b+ and 8b+. Alex Luger dares the first ascent and the redpoint ascent of Rote Wand wall at Vorarlberg’s Lechquellen mountains, while following his motto: “At a first ascent, I want to climb all parts in free style and use technical help only for safety reasons. It’s more difficult, but that’s my philosophy!” Spectacular close-ups show Luger’s struggle, the steepness of the wall and the tiny holds. High up there in the wall, the pictures prove how Luger can profit from his high-balling experiences – and how his two passions, bouldering and free climbing, fall into place.
