Alpine Rockfest 2012

December 20th 2012, Paganella/Andalo (Italy)

With one of the most spectacular race of the year and infectious rock music, the Alpine Rockfest 2012 will fascinate audience and athletes on December 20, 2012. In front of thousands of spectators, 20 Olympic alpine skiing champions will compete on a sprint Giant Slalom course with a massive jump. At Paganella ski resort near Andalo, Trentino (Italy), the winner will be rewarded with an early Christmas present: a record 70,000 euros prize-money, the highest single prize-money in the history of skiing.

At the third edition of this unique pre-Christmas event, the world elite of the international skiing will fight for glory and "trophy full of prizemoney". Many Olympic medallists and world champions are among the participants: the winner of the 2011 Alpine Rockfest, Olympic Champion and World Giant Slalom Champion Ted Ligety (USA), who showed an outstanding performance at this season`s kick-off in Soelden and is one of the favourites to win the Overall World Cup, has to defend his title against FIS heavyweights like Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR) or Bode Miller (USA), who both won the Overall World Cup twice, Olympic Gold once and the World Championships four times. Further favourites are the 2009 Alpine Rockfest winner, Cyprien Richard (FRA), as well as leading FIS athletes like Max Blardone (ITA), Philipp Schoerghofer (AUT), Ondrej Bank (CZE) and Jon Olsson (SWE).
