200 years after the first ascent of Jungfrau summit, Switzerland

150 years of Mammut, Europe's biggest mountaineering outfitter

100 years of Jungfraubahn - a "structure of the century"

Anniversary Basecamp

August 2nd to 4th 2011, Jungfraujoch (Switzerland)

A triple anniversary gives reason to start the biggest summit project in the history of mountaineering: 200 years ago, on August 3rd 1811, the brothers Johann Rudolf and Hieronymus Meyer from Aargau, Switzerland, climbed the first four-thousander in Switzerland, Jungfrau summit. 200 years of exciting mountaineering history followed, mainly driven by the British rope teams of the 19th century who were followed by further rope teams from around the world.

Celebrating its 150th anniversary itself, Swiss mountaineering supplier Mammut will commemorate these anniversaries by organizing the biggest summit project in the history of mountaineering on the "Top of Europe" on August 3rd 2011, exactly 200 years after the first ascent. 150 glaring red expedition tents at the Jungfraujoch (3,454 m) will accommodate 40 international mountain guides from all over the world, including Peru, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, the USA and Canada, as well as top athletes, climbing pros, and mountain rescue authority Oswald Ölz (SUI).
